Pamela Naughton
Pamela Parsons Naughton, wife of James Naughton of Weston, died April 9 at her home. She was 66.
Ms. Naughton “passed with the same grace and courage with which she waged her four-year battle with pancreatic cancer,” her family said. She was surrounded by her husband, her two children — Greg Naughton and Keira Naughton Forgash — their spouses, and her three siblings.
The daughter of the late John and Jean Parsons of West Hartford, Ms. Naughton graduated from Hall High School in 1964. After studying literature at Middlebury College, she married James Naughton (also raised in West Hartford) in 1967.
They lived in New Haven while Mr. Naughton studied acting at Yale Drama School, and where their son and daughter were born.
Mr. Naugthon’s acting career took them to Los Angeles in 1973. They returned to Connecticut and settled down for good in Weston in 1977, where Ms. Naughton resumed graduate study and received her master of social work degree from Fordham University.
In the following years she worked as a social worker at Hall-Brooke Hospital in Westport, and in the special education department at Weston Middle School. In 1995, she put what her family called her “prodigious people talents” to work as director of development for the Blue Light Theater Co. in New York City, founded by her son, where she served through 2001.
Her passions included the family “farm” where she spent many weekends and summers throughout her life with her siblings, nine cousins, and nieces and nephews, who shared this unique retreat.
Family was always first and foremost for Ms. Naughton, and she was the undisputed hub and glue of a large and tight-knit extended family, her family said. Her greatest passion and pride in recent years were her two grandchildren, Owen and Charlie, they said.
