Joseph Hayes Cina (AJ), beloved son of Joseph and Holly Hayes Cina and brother of Kelsey Cina tragically left this world too soon at the age of 12. He was born on October 6, 2000. Besides his parents and sister he is survived by his grandparents Joseph and Marilyn Cina of Weston, CT. His Uncle Steve and Aunt Katie Hayes Crowe of Farmington, CT as well as many special aunts, uncles, cousin, friends and his loyal canine companion Maggie. He was predeceased by his grandmother Elizabeth K. Hayes.
AJ was a very special young man with the gift of making everyone in his presence feel loved. In the words of his best friend Derek, “he was perfect!” He was a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew teammate and friend. He was a kind and gentle soul. Generous, pure in heart with a wicked sense of humor. He was loved by everyone who knew him. AJ was a gifted athlete who enjoyed playing baseball, basketball and soccer. He was a true athletic all star. He was a big fan of the Yankees, Giants and Knicks. He shared his passion for his teams with his family and friends. AJ was also a talented musician who played the saxophone and was a self taught pianist. AJ excelled in his school work and was a very bright and intelligent young man.
He will be dearly, dearly missed by all those who knew him. Life as we knew it, will never be the same. Although we have lost a shining star he will continue to live on in our hearts.
Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, August 3rd at 11:00 AM meeting directly at Saint Francis of Assisi Church 35 Norfield Road, Weston, CT. The family will receive friends in the Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Rd. E., Westport on Thursday from 6 to 8 PM and Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of AJ may be made to the Weston Little League, P.O. Box 1277, Weston, CT 06883.
