Norman W. Henderson, 84

Norman W. Henderson of Weston, Connecticut, died on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at home. He was 84 years old and a resident of Weston since 1965.

Born on June 23,1928, in Portland Maine, he was the son of Guilford Henderson and Annabell Lewis Henderson.

Mr. Henderson served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was granted an Honorable Discharge.

Following his discharge, he began his career in the Paper Industry and represented several large paper mills as a sales executive over a long career in the industry.

During his almost fifty years in Weston, he served as Chairman of the Commission for the Elderly. He was a past president of the Weston Kiwanis and a former Lieutenant Governor in Kiwanis serving the Southwest District. He also served several years as a trustee of Norfield Congregational Church in Weston.

He was a 32nd degree Mason associated with the Scottish Rite Masons,Valley of Bridgeport, Connecticut. He was also a member of Temple Lodge #65 in Westport, Connecticut.

Mr. Henderson is survived by his wife, Joan Henderson, his daughter and son-in law Karen and Ken Happich of Jacksonville, Florida, and his son Norman G. Henderson of Bridgeport, Connecticut. In addition, he is survived by his step-daughters, Dr. Marguerite Rizzi and her partner Brenda Mottram of Hull, Massachusetts, and Phyllis Rizzi of Narragansett, Rhode Island.

He is also survived by granddaughters, Emily Rizzi, Michelle Dabney and great-grandson, Micheal Dabney.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 10 am in Norfield Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations, in his name, can be made to the Pastor’s Discretionary Fund at Norfield Church.
